Steven Foster, has authored and co-authored a host of noted titles including National Geographic’s Complete Guide to Medicinal Herbs, A Desk Reference to Nature’s Medicine co-authored with Rebecca Johnson, Peterson’s Field Guide to Medicinal Plants and Herbs: Eastern North America with James A. Duke. As an acclaimed botanical photographer, Steven has over 900 illustrated articles published in a wide range of media from Arab Banker to Martha Stewart Living.
Rebecca Wood is a Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP), AromaTouch Therapist, E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor, Advanced Myofascial Release (MFR) practitioner, Herbalist and Reiki Master. Coupled with her work in yoga and herbal education, Rebecca has spent the last 22 years teaching Natural Resources and Sustainable Design at the college level and 10 years coordinating international study-abroad and eco-wellness journeys to Central America.

Join Steven & Rebecca on this all-inclusive journey to Belize and discover the magic of this culturally diverse country, known by many as “Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret”. This is a unique opportunity to improve your photography skills while enhancing your knowledge of the amazing varieties of native plants used by the ancient and present day Maya for ritual, medicine and daily living. Your accommodations at DuPlooys offer over 100 acres of lush tropical vegetation, wildlife, birds and natural beauty to explore, photograph and enjoy with hosts Steven and Rebecca. Special Guest presenter Dr. Rosita Arvigo, Co-founder of the Belize Ethnobotany Project, will also be your guide as you wander the Panti Medicine Trails at Chaa Creek. Steven & Rebecca will share their love and vast experience with herbs and healing secrets specific to this tropical ecosystem. Throughout your journey, including special Q&A sessions, Steven will guide you in the best techniques for capturing the beauty with your camera, be it a 35mm DSLR or an iPhone.
After spending five spectacular days exploring the pristine jungles and ancient ruins, you’ll be transported by boat across the sapphire colored waters of the Caribbean. Your destination is a 12-acre island paradise situated on the edge of the Belize Barrier Reef, so pristine that UNESCO has named it one of their world heritage sites. White coral sand, tropical flowers, coconut palms, and unique bird species abound. With your cabana accommodations close to the water’s edge, you will awaken each morning to the sounds of the waves gently lapping the shore beneath you. Daily excursions with IZE’s expert guides, eager to share their favorite spots, will offer you a special opportunity to explore this amazing reef system teeming with tropical fish and colorful coral garden.
